Tadalafil is the generic form of Cialis® — a PDE5 inhibitor with the longest window in its class, up to 36 hours. It is prescribed only after a licensed provider reviews your health history.
How to take it
Take as directed by your provider. It can be taken with or without food, typically at least 30 minutes to an hour before sex — and because the window is long, timing matters less than with shorter-acting options. Avoid heavy alcohol while taking it.
Potential side effects
The most common side effects are headache, indigestion, back pain, muscle aches, flushing, and nasal congestion. Serious side effects are rare — seek medical care right away for an erection lasting longer than 4 hours, or for sudden vision or hearing loss. Never take tadalafil with nitrates.
Important safety information
Do not use tadalafil if you take nitrates or guanylate cyclase stimulators — the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
